Skoparette 4x scope, made by Voigtländer in Braunschweig, was one of the main models used by Bavarian snipers during WW1. The rear mount bears the logo of the Gebruder Merkel manufacturer in Suhl, Germany.
Ah, finally found this scope on the Internet! I’m looking at a scope that my Grandad brought back from Germany after the WWII. It’s the same as the one displayed here. Except, mine is numbered 2923 with a /k underneath the number. No mount, though, just the scope. Also, mine’s in better condition. The glass has yellowed with age but you can still see through it and the reticle shows.
